Dua Raf' al-Masahif

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِكِتَابِكَ الْمُنْزَلِ وَ مَا فِيهِ

alaahumma inni asaloka be kitaabekal munzale wa maa feeh,

O Allah I beseech You in the name of Your revealed Book and by that which is in it,

وَ فِيهِ اسْمُكَ الْأَكْبَرُ وَ أَسْمَاؤُكَ الْحُسْنَى

wa feehismokal akbaro wa asmaakal husnaa,

and by Your great name and by Your (other) beautiful names in it,

وَ مَا يُخَافُ وَ يُرْجَى أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِنْ عُتَقَائِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ

wa maa yokhaafo wa yurjaa an taj-alani min otaqaaeka minan-naar

and in it there are that which warns and gives hope to include me among those who have been set free from the Hellfire.

اللّهُمّ بِحَقّ هذَا القُرْآنِ

allaahumma be haqqe haadhal qur'an

O Allah: for the sake of this (Holy) Qur'an,

وَبِحَقّ مَنْ أَرْسَلْتَهُ بِهِ

we be haqqe man arsaltahoo beh

and for the sake of that person through whom You sent it,

وَبِحَقّ كُلّ مُؤْمِنٍ مَدَحْتَهُ فِيهِ

wa be haqqe kulle momenin madahtahoo feeh

and for the sake of those believers who have been praised therein,

وَبِحَقّكَ عَلَيْهِمْ

we be haqqeka alaihim

and in the name of Your obligation to them,

فَال أَحَدَ أَعْرَفُ بِحَقّكَ مِنْكَ.

fa-laa ahada a'arafo be haqqeka mink

no one is aware of Your obligation more than You

بِكَ يَا اللّهُ،

bika yaallahu

For Your sake, O Allah,

بِمُحَمّدٍ،

bi-muhammadin

for the sake of Muhammad (s),

بِعَلِيّ،

bi-`aliyyin

for the sake of `Ali (a),

بِفَاطِمَةَ،

bi-fatimata

for the sake of Fatimah (a),

بِالحَسَنِ،

bilhasani

for the sake of Hasan (a),

بِالحُسَيْنِ،

bilhusayni

for the sake of Husayn (a),

بِعَلِيّ بْنِ الحُسَيْنِ،

bi-`ali ibn'el husayni

for the sake of `Ali son of Husayn (a),

بِمُحَمّدِ بْنِ عَلِيّ،

bi-muhammad ibni `aliyyin

for the sake of Muhammad son of `Ali (a),

بِجَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمّدٍ،

bi-ja`far ibni muhammadin

for the sake of Ja`far son of Muhammad (a),

بِمُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ،

bi-musa ibni ja`farin

for the sake of Musa son of Jafar (a),

بِعَلِيّ بْنِ مُوسَى،

bi-`ali ibni musa

for the sake of `Ali son of Musa (a),

بِمُحَمّدِ بْنِ عَلِيّ،

bi-muhammad ibni `aliyyin

for the sake of Muhammad son of `Ali (a),

بِعَلِيّ بْنِ مُحَمّدٍ،

bi-`ali ibni muhammadin

for the sake of `Ali son of Muhammad (a),

بِالحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيّ،

bil hasan ibni `aliyyin

for the sake of Hasan son of `Ali (a),

بِالحُجّةِ،

bilhujjati

for the sake of al-Hujjah (aj).
