Dua al-Mashlul

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ

bismilla hir rahma nir rahim.

the Name of God, Merciful, the Most Compassionate.

يا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَالاِْكرامِ يا حَىُّ يا قَيّوُمُ يا حَىُّ

ya zal jalale val ikrame.ya hayyo. ya ayyoomo ya hyyo

O Lord of Majesty and Generosity; O Living; O Self-Subsisting, O Ever-living,

لا اِلـهَ اِلاّ اَنْتَ، يا هُوَ يا مَنْ لا يَعْلَمُ ما هُوَ

laa iiiaha ilia antaya hova. ya man hova. ya man la ya.lamo ma hova

there is no God but You. O You that are "He" of whom no one knoweth what "He" is,

وَلا كَيْفَ هُوَ وَلا حَيْثُ هُوَ اِلاّ هُوَ

.wa la kaifa hova. wa la haiso hova illa hova.

nor how "He" is, nor where "He" is, except "He."

يا ذَا المُلْكِ وَالْمَلَكوُتِ يا ذَا الْعِزَّةِ وَالْجَبَروُتِ

ya zal-moolke val-malakoote. ya zal izzate val-jabaroote,

O Lord of the Great Kingdom and Supremacy. O Lord of Honor and Omnipotence:

يا مَلِكُ يا قُدُّوسُ، يا سَلامُ يا مُؤْمِنُ

ya maleko. ya aooddooso ya salamo. ya mo'meno,

O Sovereign Lord, O Holy One! O Peace; O Keeper of Faith;

يا مُهَيْمِنُ يا عَزيزُ يا جَبّارُ يا مُتَكَبِّرُ

ya mohaimeno, ya ' azizo, ya jabbaro. ya motakabbero,

O Guardian; O Revered One; O Compeller; O Superb;

يا خالِقُ يا بارِئُ يا مصوّر يا مُفيدُ

ya khaliqo. ya baari'o. ya mosovvero, ya mofeedo.

O Creator; O Maker of all things from nothing; O Artist; O Kind;

يا مُدَبِّرُ يا شَديدُ يا مُبْدِئُ يا مُعيدُ

ya modabbiro, ya shadeedo. ya mobdi.o. ya mo'eedo.

O Administrator; O Severe (in wrath); O Inventor; O Restorer;

يا مُبيدُ يا وَدُودُ يا مَحْمُودُ يا مَعْبوُدُ

ya mobeedo. ya vadoodo, ya mahmoodo. ya ma'boodo,

O Originator; O Most Loving; O Praised; O Adored;

يا بَعيدُ يا قَريبُ يا مجيب يا رقيب

ya ba'eedo. ya aareebo. ya mojeebo. ya raqeebo.

O You that are distant yet near; O Answerer of prayer; O Observer; O Reckoner;

يا حَسيبُ يا بَديعُ يا رَفيعُ يا منيعٌ

ya haseebo. ya badee.o. ya rafee.o. ya manee'o.

O Innovator; O Exalted; O Unassailable; O Hearer;

يا سَميعُ يا عَليمُ يا حَليمُ يا كَريمُ

ya samee.o. ya .alimo, ya hakimo, ya karimo,

O Knower; O Wise; O Bountiful;

يا حَكيمُ يا قَديمُ يا عَلِىُّ يا عَظيمُ

ya halimo, ya aadeemo, ya alio. ya azimo,

O Forbearing; O Eternal; O Lofty; O Great;

يا حَنّانُ يا مَنّانُ يا دَيّانُ يا مُسْتَعانُ

ya hannano. ya mannano, ya dyyano. ya moosta.ano,

O most Compassionate; O Giver of all good; O most perfect Requiter of good and evil;

يا جَليلُ يا جَميلُ يا وَكيلُ يا كفَيلُ

ya jalilo. ya jamilo. ya vakeelo, ya kafeelo.

O You whose help is sought for; O Guide; O Magnanimous;

يا مُقيلُ يا مُنيلُ يا نَبيلُ يا دَليلُ

ya moqeelo. ya moneelo. ya nabeelo' ya daleelo.

O Commencer; O Giver of guidance;

يا هادى يا بادى يا اَوَّلُ يا اخِرُ

ya hadee. ya badee. ya avvalo. ya akhiro.

O Giver of guidance; O Incomparable One; O First; O Last;

يا ظاهِرُ يا باطِنُ يا قآئِمُ يا دآئِمُ

ya zahiro, va batino, va qa'em-o, va daa'emo,

O Evident; O Hidden; O Established; O Everlasting;

يا عالِمُ يا حاكِمُ يا قاضى يا عادِلُ

va ' alimo, va hakimo, va qazio, va ' adilo,

O Knowing; O Ruler; O Dispenser of justice; O Equitable;

يا فاصِلُ يا واصِلُ يا طاهِرُ يا مُطَهِّرُ

va fasilo, va vasilo, va tahiro, va motah-hero,

O You Who separates and unites; O Pure; O Purifier;

يا قادِرُ يا مُقْتَدِرُ يا كَبيرُ يا مُتَكَبِّرُ

va qadiro, va moqtadiro, va kabeero, va motakabbiro,

O Powerful; O Almighty; O Great; O Magnificent.

يا واحِدُ يا اَحَدُ يا صَمَدُ

va vahido, va ahado, va samado,

O One; O Matchless; O Eternal;

يا مَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يوُلَدْ

va man lam valid wa lam voolad

O Absolute; O You Who gives birth to no one and is born from no one;

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً اَحَدٌ

wa lam va -kool -lahoo kofo-an ahad,

nor is there anyone equal to You, nor have You any spouse;

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ صاحِبَةٌ

wa lam vakool-lahoo sahebaton

nor any bearer of Your burden;

وَلا كانَ مَعَهُ وَزيرٌ

wa la kana ma'ahoo waziroon,

nor any consultant to give You advice;

وَلاَ اتَّخَذَ مَعَهُ مُشيراً

wa lattakhaza ma'ahoo mosheeran,

not do You need any supporter;

وَلاَ احْتاجَ اِلى ظَهير

wa lah-toja ala zaheerin,

nor is there with You any other god;

وَلا كانَ مَعَهُ مِنْ اِلـه غَيْرُهُ

wa la kana ma'ahoo min godin ghairohoo,

There is no God but You,

لا اِلـهَ اِلاّ اَنْتَ

la iilaha ilia anta

and You are far exalted with great excellence

فَتَعالَيْتَ عَمّا يَقُولُ الظّالِمُونَ عُلُوّاً كَبيراً

fata'a-laita, amma vaqoolooz-zalemoona 'oloovan kabeeran,

above all that which unjust people say concerning You

يا عَلِىُّ يا شامِخُ يا باذِخُ يا فَتّاحُ

va alio, va shamikho, va bazekho, va fattaho,

O High and Lofty; O most Glorious; O Opener;

يا نَفّاحُ يا مُرْتاحُ يا مُفَرِّجُ يا ناصِرُ

va naffaho, va moortaho, va mofarrejo, va nasiro,

O Diffuser of fragrance; O Tolerant; O Helper;

يا مُنْتَصِرُ يا مُدْرِكُ يا مُهْلِكُ يا مُنْتَقِمُ

va moontasiro, va modriko, va mohliko, va moon-taqimo,

O Victorious; O Overtaker; O Destroyer; O Avenger;

يا باعِثُ يا وارِثُ يا طالِبُ يا غالِبُ

va ba'eso, va wareso, va talibo, va ghalibo,

O Resurrector; O Inheritor; O Seeker; O Conquerer;

يا مَنْ لا يَفُوتُهُ هارِبٌ

va man la vaffotohoo hareboon,

O You from Whom no fugitive can escape;

يا تَوّابُ يا اَوّابُ يا وَهّابُ يا مُسَبِّبَ الاَْسْبابِ

va tvvabo, va avvabo, va wahhabo, va wlosab-be-bal asbabe,

O Acceptor of repentance; O Ever-forgiving; O Great Bestower; O Causer of all causes;

يا مُفَتِّحَ الاَْبْوابِ يا مَنْ حَيْثُ ما دُعِىَ اَجابَ

va mofattehal abvabe, va man haiso ma do'eya ajaba,

O Opener of doors (of relief and salvation); O You Who answers whenever You are invoked;

يا طَهُورُ يا شَكُورُ يا عَفُوُّ يا غَفُورُ

va tahooro, va shakooro, va ' afoo'o, va ghafooro,

O Purifier; O Giver of manifold rewards; O Excuser; O Pardoner;

يا نُورَ النُّورِ يا مُدَبِّرَ الاُْموُرِ

va nooral noore, va modabberal omoore,

O Light of all lights; O Director of all affairs;

يا لَطيفُ يا خَبيرُ يا مُجيرُ يا مُنيرُ

va lateefo, va khabiro, va mojeero,va moneero,

O Ever Blissful; O All-Aware; O Protector; O Luminous;

يا بَصيرُ يا كَبيرُ يا وِتْرُ يا فَرْدُ

va baseero, va kabeero, va vitro, va fardo,

O Seer; O Supporter; O Great; O Alone One; O Unique;

يا اَبَدُ يا سَنَدُ يا صَمَدُ

va abado, va sanado, va samado,

O Everlasting; O Upholder; O Eternal and Absolute;

يا كافى يا شافى يا وافى يا مُعافى

va kafee, va shafee, va vafee, va mo'afee,

O Sufficer; O Healer; O Fulfiller of promises; O Deliverer;

يا مُحْسِنُ يا مُجْمِلُ يا مُنْعِمُ يا مُفْضِلُ

va mohsino, va mojmilo, va mon'imo, va motafazzelo,

O Benefactor; O Beautifier; O Bestower of grace; O Grantor of favors;

يا مُتَكَرِّمُ يا مُتَفَرِّدُ، يا مَنْ عَلا فَقَهَرَ

va motakarremo, ya motafarredo, ya man' ala faqahara,

O Gracious; O One without an equal; O You Who, being Exalted, overwhelm (all);

يا مَنْ مَلَكَ فَقَدَرَ، يا مَنْ بَطَنَ فَخَبَرَ

va man malaka faqadara, va man batana fa-khabara,

O You Who, being Master of all, have absolute power; O You, Who being hidden are well informed;

يا مَنْ عُبِدَ فَشَكَرَ، يا مَنْ عُصِىَ فَغَفَرَ

ya man 'obeda fashakara va man 'oseya faghafara

O You Who, being disobeyed, forgives;

يا مَنْ لا يَحْويهِ الْفِكَرُ وَلا يُدْرِكُهُ بَصَرٌ

va mal la tah-veehil fikaro, wa la vod-rikohoo basaroon,

O You Whom no thought can fully comprehend;

وَلا يَخْفى عَلَيْهِ اَثَرٌ، يا رازِقَ الْبَشَرِ يا مُقَدِّرَ كُلِّ قَدَر

wa la yakhfa ' alaihe asaroon, va razeqal bashare, ya moqaddera koollee qadarin,

nor sight perceive, nor from Whom any impression is hidden, O Nourisher of Humanity; O Ordainer of every destiny;

يا عالِىَ الْمَكانِ يا شَديدَ الاَْرْكانِ

va' ali-yal.makane, va shadeedal arkane,

O You of Exalted position; O You Formidable in Your foundations;

يا مُبَدِّلَ الزَّمانِ يا قابِلَ الْقُرْبانِ

va mobad-delaz-zamane, 'y'a qabelal qoorbane,

O Changer of times; O Acceptor of sacrifice;

يا ذَا الْمَنِّ وَالاِْحْسانِ يا ذَا الْعِزَّةِ وَالسُّلْطانِ

ya zal-manne, val-ahsane, va zal-izze vas-sooltane,

O You, Who are full of favors and gifts; O Lord of honor and supremacy;

يا رَحيمُ يا مَنْ هُوَ كُلِّ يَوُم فى شَاْن

ya rahimo, va man hova koolle vovmin fee shanin,

O All Merciful; O Most Compassionate; O You that has each day a distinctive Glory,

يا مَنْ لا يَشْغَلُهُ شَاْنٌ عَنْ شَاْن

va man la vash-gholohoo shanoon ' an shanin,

while no aspect of Your Glory is erased by the prominence of another aspect;

يا عَظيمَ الشَّأنِ يا مَنْ هُوَ بِكُلِّ مَكان

ya ' azimash-shane, va man hova be-koolle makanin,

O You that are present in every place;

يا سامِعَ الاَْصْواتِ يا مُجيبَ الدَّعَواتِ

ya same'al-asvate, ya mojeeb-ad-da'wate,

O Hearer of all voices; O Answerer of (all) prayers;

يا مُنْجِحَ الطَّلِباتِ يا قاضِىَ الْحاجاتِ

ya moonjehat- talebate, ya qazeyal-hajate,

O Giver of success in all requirements; O Fulfiller of all needs;

يا مُنْزِلَ الْبَرَكاتِ يا راحِمَ الْعَبَراتِ

ya monzelal-barakate, ya rahemal 'aberate,

O Bestower of blessings; O You Who takes pity on our tears;

يا مُقيلَ الْعَثَراتِ يا كاشِفَ الْكُرُباتِ

ya moqeelal-' asarate, ya kashefal-korobate,

O You Who raises (us) from pitfalls; O You Who relieves agonies;

يا وَلِىَّ الْحَسَناتِ يا رافِعَ الدَّرَجاتِ

ya-vaji-yal hasanate, ya rafe'ad-darajate,

O You Who are the Cherisher of good deeds, O You that raises people in rank and status;

يا مُؤْتِىَ السُّؤْلاتِ يا مُحْيِىَ الاَْمْواتِ

ya mo'ti-yas-so'late, ya moh-ye-yal amwate,

O You Who agrees to requests; O You Who brings the dead to life;

يا جامِعَ الشَّتاتِ يا مُطَّلِعاً عَلَى النِّيّاتِ

ya jame'ash-shatate, ya mottale'o ' alanni-yate,

O You Who gathereth together that which is scattered; O You Who are informed of all intentions;

يا رادَّ ما قَدْ فاتَ يا مَنْ لا تَشْتَبِهُ عَلَيْهِ الاَْصْواتُ

ya radda ma qad fata, ya man-la tash-tabeho ' alaihi-i aswato,

Who restores that which has been lost; O You that are not confused by a multiplicity of voices;

يا مَنْ لا تُضْجِرُهُ الْمَسْأَلاتُ وَلا تَغْشاهُ الظُّلُماتُ

ya man la tozjero-hool mas'alato wa la tagh- shahooz-zolomato,

O You Who are not harassed by a multitude of petitions; and Whom no darkness can hide or cover;

يا نُورَ الاَْرْضِ والسِّماواتِ

ya nooral-arze vas-samavate,

O Light of heaven and earth;

يا سابِغَ النِّعَمِ يا دافِعَ النِّقَمِ

ya sabeghanne'ame, ya dafe-an-neqame,

O Perfector of blessings; O Averter of calamities;

يا بارِئَ النَّسَمِ يا جامِعَ الاُْمَمِ

ya bare'al-nesame, ya jamea'l omame,

O Producer of zephyrs and gentle winds; O Gatherer of nations;

يا شافِىَ السَّقَمِ يا خالِقَ النُّورِ وَالظُّلَمِ

ya shafe-yas-saqame, ya khaleqan-noore, vaz-zolame,

O Healer of disease; O Creator of light and darkness;

يا ذَا الْجُودِ وَالْكَرَمِ يا مَنْ لا يَطَأُ عَرْشَهٌ قَدَمٌ

ya zal joode val-karame, ya man la yata' o arshahoo qadamoon

O Lord of generosity and giving; O You (on) whose throne no one can set foot!

يا اَجْوَدَ الاَْجْوَدينَ يا اَكْرَمَ الاَْكْرَمينَ

ya ajwadal ajwadeena, ya akramal-akrameena,

O You are more generous than the most generous; O You are more giving than the most giving;

يا اَسْمَعَ السّامِعينَ يا اَبْصَرَ النّاظِرينَ

ya asma'as-same'eena, ya absaran-nazereena,

O You are more keen of hearing than the most keen of hearing; O You are more keen of vision than the most perceiving;

يا جارَ الْمُسْتَجيرينَ يا اَمانَ الْخائِفينَ

ya jaral-moostajeereena, ya amanal-khaa'efeena,

O Protecting neighbor of those that seek Your closeness;

يا ظَهْرَ اللاّجينَ يا وَلِىَّ الْمُؤْمِنينَ

ya zahral-lajeena, ya vali-yal mo'meneena,

O Refuge of the fearful; O Patron of the faithful;

يا غِياثَ الْمُسْتَغيثينَ يا غايَةَ الطّالِبينَ

ya gheyasal mos-tagheeseena, ya ghayatat-talebeena,

O Helper of those that seek Your help; O ultimate Goal of those that aspire;

يا صاحِبَ كُلِّ غَريب يا مُؤنِسَ كُلِ وَحيد

ya saheba koolle gharibin, ya moonisa koollee vaheedin,

O Companion of all strangers; O Friend of all the lonely ones;

يا مَلْجَاَ كُلِّ طَريد يا مَاْوى كُلِّ شَريد

ya malja-a koolle tariddin, ya mava koolfee shareedin,

O Refuge of all outcasts; O Retreat of all persecuted ones;

يا حافِظَ كُلِّ ضآلَّة، يا راحِمَ الشَّيْخِ الْكَبيرِ

ya hafeza koolle zal-iatin, ya rahemash-shaikhil-kabire,

O Guardian of all those who stray; O You Who takes pity on the aged and decrepit;

يا رازِقَ الّطِفْلِ الصَّغيرِ يا جابِرَ الْعَظْمِ الْكَسيرِ

ya razeqat- tiflis-saghire, ya jaber-al'azmil kaseere,

O You Who nourishes the little baby; O You Who joins together broken ones;

يا فاكَّ كُلِّ اَسير، يا مُغْنِىَ الْبآئِسِ الْفَقيرِ

ya fak-ka koolle aseerin, ya moghni-yaf-baa'esil-faqeere,

O Liberator of all prisoners; O Enricher of the miserable poor;

يا عِصْمَةَ الْخائِفِ الْمُسْتَجيرِ، يا مَنْ لَهُ التَّدْبيرُ وَالتَّقْديرُ

ya ismatal-khaa'efil moostajeere, ya man lahoot-taqbeero vattaqdeero,

O Protector of the frightened refugees; O You for Whom alone are both destiny and determination;

يا مِنَ الْعَسيرُ عَلَيْهِ سَهْلٌ يَسيرٌ، يا مَنْ لا يَحْتاجُ اِلى تَفْسير

ya manil'aseero, alaihe sahloon yaseeroon, ya man la yahtajo ila tafseerin,

O You for Whom all difficult things are simple and easy; O You Who does not need any explanation;

يا مَنْ هُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شْيء قَديرُ

ya man hova ' ala koolle shai-in oadeeroon,

O You Who are Mighty over all things;

يا مَنْ هُوَ بِكُلِّ شَْيء خَبيرٌ

ya man hova be-koolle shai-in khabiroon,

O You Who are Knower of all things;

يا مَنْ هُوَ بِكُلِّ شَْيء بَصيرٌ

ya man hova be-koollee shai-in baseeroon,

O You Who see all things.

يا مُرْسِلَ الرِّياحِ يا فالِقَ الاِْصْباحِ

ya moorselar-reyahe, ya faleqal asbahe,

O You Who makes breezes blow; O You Who breaks open the dawn;

يا باعِثَ الاَْرْواحِ يا ذَا الْجُودِ وَالسَّماحِ

ya ba'esal arvahe, ya-zaljoode vas-samahe,

O Reviver of spirits; O Lord of Generosity and Mildness;

يا مَنْ بِيَدِهِ كُلُّ مِفْتاح

ya man be-yadehi koollo miftahin,

O You in Whose hands are all keys;

يا سامِعَ كُلِّ صَوْت يا سابِقَ كُلِّ فَوْت

ya same'a koolle sovtin, ya sabeqa koolle favtin,

O Hearer of all voices; O You Who are earlier in time than all that have passed away;

يا مُحْيِىَ كُلِّ نَفْس بَعْدَ المَوْتِ

ya moh-yeya koolle nafsin ba'dal movte,

O Giver of life to every soul after death;

يا عُدَّتى فى شِدَّتى يا حافِظىِ فى غُرْبَتى

ya 'oddati fee shiddati wa ya hafezi fee ghoorbati,

O my Means of defense in confronting hardships; O my Guardian in strange lands;

يا مُؤنِسى فى وَحْدَتى يا وَلِيّى فى نِعْمَتى

ya moonesi fee vahdati, ya vali-yee fee ne'mati,

O my Friend in my loneliness; O my Master in my bliss;

يا كَهْفى حينَ تُعْيينِى الْمَذاهِبُ

kahfi heena to'eenil-mazahibo

O my Refuge at the time when the journey tires me out;

وَتُسَلِّمُنىِ الاَْقارِبُ وَيَخْذُلُنى كُلُّ صاحِب

wa tosal-iemonil-aqaribo wa yakhzo-ioni koollo sahebin

and my relatives hand me over to my foes and all my comrades abandon me;

يا عِمادَ مَنْ لا عِمادَ لَهُ، يا سَنَدَ مَنْ لا سَنَدَ لَهُ

ya ' imada man la 'imada lahoo, ya sanada man la sanada lahoo,

O Supporter of those who have no support; O Guarantor of those who have no guarantee;

يا ذُخْرَ مَنْ لا ذُخْرَ لَهُ، يا حِرْزَ مَنْ لا حِرْزَ لَهُ

ya zookhra man la zookra lahoo, ya hirza man la hirza lahoo,

O Wealth of those who have no wealth; O Means of those who have no strength;

يا كَهْفَ مَنْ لا كَهْفَ لَهُ، يا كَنْزَ مَنْ لا كَنْزَ لَهُ

ya kahfa man la kahfa lahoo, ya kanza man la kanza lahoo,

O Refuge of those who have no refuge; O Treasure of those who have no treasure;

يا رُكُنَ مَنْ لا رُكْنَ لَهُ، يا غِياثَ مَنْ لا غِياثَ لَهُ

ya rookna man la rookna lahoo, ya gheyasa man la gheyasa lahoo,

O Helper of those who have no helper;

يا جارَ مَنْ لا جارَ لَهُ، يا جارِىَ اللَّصيقَ

ya jara man la jara lahoo, ya jare-yal-laseeqo,

O Neighbor of those who have no neighbor; O my Neighbor Who is nearby;

يا رُكْنِىَ الَْوثيقَ، يا اِلـهى بِالتَّحْقيقِ

ya rokni-yal-vaseeqo, ya ilahi bit- tahqeeqa,

O my Support that is firm; O my God, Who is worshipped through definite knowledge;

يا رَبَّ الْبَيْتِ الْعَتيقِ، يا شَفيقُ يا رَفيقُ

ya rabbal-baitil-atiqa, ya shafiqo, ya rafiqo,

O lord of the Ancient House (the Ka'ba); O You Who are full of love and kindness; O nearest Friend;

فُكَّنى مِنْ حَلَقِ الْمَضيقِ

fakkani min hel-aqil-mazeeqe

Liberate me from the choking bonds;

وَاصْرِفْ عَنّى كُلَّ هَمٍّ وَغَمٍّ وَ ضيق

vasrif ' anni koolla hammin wa ghammin wa zeeqin

Remove from me all sorrow, suffering and grief;

وَاكْفِنى شَرَّ ما لا اُطيقُ

vak-feni sharra ma la oteeqo

Protect me from the evil that I am unable to bear;

وَاَعِنّى عَلى ما اُطيقُ

wa a'inni 'ala ma oteeqo,

and help me in that which I am unable to do.

يا رآدَّ يُوسُفَ عَلى يَعْقُوبَ

ya radda yousofa ' ala ya' qooba,

O You Who did restore Joseph unto Jacob;

يا كاشِفَ ضُرِّ اَيُّوبَ، يا غافِرَ ذَنْبِ داوُدَ

ya kashefa zorre ayy-ooba. ya ghafera zambe dawooda,

O You Who did cure Job of his malady; O You Who did forgive the fault of David;

يا رافِعَ عيسَى بْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَ مُنْجِيَهُ مِنْ اَيْدِى الْيَهوُدِ

ya rafe'a 'isabne maryama wa moonje yaho min aidil ya-hoode,

O You Who did lift up Jesus and save him from the clutches of his enemies;

يا مُجيبَ نِدآءِ يُونٌسَ فِى الظُّلُماتِ

ya mojeeba nidaa'e younosa fiz-zoloma-te'

O You Who did answer the prayer of Jonah from the darkness;

يا مُصْطَفِىَ مُوسى بِالْكَلِماتِ

mostafeya moosa bil- kalemate,

O You Who chose Moses through Your inspired words;

يا مَنْ غَفَرَ لاِدَمَ خَطيـئَتَهُ وَرَفَعَ اِدْريسَ مَكاناً عَلِيّاً بِرَحْمَتِهِ

ya man ghafara le-adama khatee'ataho wa rafa'aidreesa makanan ' ali-yan be-rahmatehi,

O You Who forgave the omission of Adam and lifted up Enoch to an exalted position by Your mercy;

يا مَنْ نَجّى نُوحاً مِنَ الْغَرَقِ

ya man naja noohan minal gharqe,

O You Who saved Noah from drowning;

يا مَنْ اَهْلَكَ عاداً الاْوُلى وَثَمُودَ فَما اَبْقى وَقَوْمَ نوُح

ya man ahlaka 'aadan nil-oola wa samooda fama ab-qa wa qovma noohin

O You Who destroyed the former tribe of Ad and then Thamud, so that none of their commerce remained, and destroyed the people of Noah in the past;

مِنْ قَبْلُ اِنَّهُمْ كانُوا هُمْ اَظْلَمَ وَاَطْغى

min qablo innahoom kan-oo hoom azlama wa atgha

for truly they were the most unjust and most rebellious;

وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ اَهْوى

walmo 'tafekata ahva,

overturned the ruined and deserted towns;

يا مَنْ دَمَّرَ عَلى قَوْمِ لوُط وَدَمْدَمَ عَلى قَوْمِ شُعَيْب

ya man dammara ' ala qovme lootin wa damdama, ' ala qovme sho.aibin,

O You Who destroyed the people of Lot; and annihilated the people of Sho'aib;

يا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ اِبْراهيمَ خَليلاً

ya manit- tak-haza ibrahima khaleelan,

O You Who chose Abraham as a friend;

يا مَنِ اتَّخَذَ مُوسى كَليماً

ya manit-takhaza moosa kaleeman,

O You Who chose Moses as one spoken to;

وَاتَّخَذَ مُحَمَّداً صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَعَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعينَ حَبيباً

ya manit-takhaza mohammadan sal-ial-iaho ' alaihe wa alehi ajma' eena habee-ban,

and chose Muhammed (Your blessings be upon him and his Descendants) as Your Beloved;

يا مُؤْتِىَ لُقْمانَ الْحِكْمَةَ وَالْواهِبَ لِسُلَيْمانَ مُلْكاً لا يَنْبَغى لاَِحَد مِنْ بَعْدِهِ

ya mo'teya loqmanal hikmata val-vahaba le-solaimana moolkan, la yambaghi le-ahedim-mim-ba'dehi,

O You Who gave Luqman wisdom; and gave Sulaiman a kingdom the like of which shall not be merited by anyone after him;

يا مَنْ نَصَرَ ذَا الْقَرْنَيْنِ عَلَى الْمُلُوكِ الْجَبابِرَةِ

ya man nasara zal-qarnaine ' ai-al-malookil-jababerate.

O You Who gave help to the two-horned one against the mighty tyrants;

يا مَنْ اَعْطَى الْخِضْرَ الْحَيوةَ

ya man a'tal-khizral-hayata,

O You Who gave grant unto Khidr immortality;

وَرَدَّ لِيٌوشَعَ بْنِ نوُن الشَّمْسَ بَعْدَ

wa radda le- yoosha bin noonin noor-ash-shamse ba'da

and brought back for Joshua, the son of Nun, the sun after it had set;

يا مَنْ رَبَطَ عَلى قَلْبِ اُمِّ مُوسى

ghoroobha ya man rabata, ala qalbe oome moosa

O You Who comforted the heart of the mother of Moses;

وَاَحْصَنَ فَرْجَ مَرْيَمَ ابْنَتِ عِمْرانَ

wa ahsana farja ma-ryamab-nate 'imrana,

and protected the chastity of Mary, the daughter of 'Imran;

يا مَنْ حَصَّنَ يَحْيَى بْنَ زَكَرِيّا

ya man hassana yahya-bna zakariya

O You Who strengthened John, the Son of Zechariah, against sin;

مِنَ الذَّنْبِ وَسَكَّنَ عَنْ مُوسَى الْغَضَبَ

minaz-zambe, wa sakkana 'an moosal-ghazaba,

and lessened anger for Moses;

يا مَنْ بَشَّرَ زَكَرِيّا بِيَحْيى

ya man bash-shera zakarjyabe-yahya,

O You Who gave glad tidings of (the Birth of) John to Zechariah;

يا مَنْ فَدا اِسْماعيلَ مِنَ الذَّبْحِ بِذِبْح عَظيم

ya man fada isma'eela minaz-zabhe be-zabhin ' azim,

O You Who saved Ishmael from slaughter by substituting for him the Great Sacrifice;

يا مَنْ قَبِلَ قُرْبانَ هابيلَ وَجَعَلَ اللَّعْنَةَ عَلى قابيلَ

ya man qabela qoorbana ha-beela waj'alal-la'nata ' ala qabeela,

O You Who accepted the offering of Abel and placed the curse on Cain.

يا هازِمَ الاَْحْزابِ لُِمحَمَّد صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

ya hazemal-ahzabe le mohammadin salla-llahu alaihi wa a'lih

O Subduer of the alien hordes for Muhammad - the blessings of God be upon him and his Descendants -

صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّدِ

salli a'la mohammadin wa aali mohammadi

give Your blessings to Muhammad and his Descendants,

وَ عَلى جَميعِ الْمُرْسَلينَ وَمَلائِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبينَ

wa ' ala jami'il ambiyya'e val-moorsaleena wa malaa'ekatekal-moqarrabeena

and to all Your Messengers and to the Angels that are near You,

وَاَهْلِ طاعَتِكَ اَجْمَعينَ

wa ahle ta-'ateka ajmaeena

and to all of Your obedient servants.

وَاَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ مَسْأَلَة سَأَلَكَ بِها اَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ رَضيتَ عَنْهُ

wa as-aloka be-koolle mas-'alatin sa'ajaka beha ahadoon mimman razee-ta ' anho

And I beg of You all the requests which anyone has begged of You, with whom You have been pleased,

فَحَتَمْتَ لَهُ عَلَى الاِْجابَةِ

fahatamta lahoo ' alal ijabate, ya ai-jaho,

and unto whom You have assured the granting;

يا اَللهُ يا اَللهُ يا اَللهُ

ya godo, ya godo, ya godo

O God, O God, O God,

يا رَحْمنُ يا رَحمنُ يا رَحْمنُ

ya rahmano, ya rahmano, ya rahmano, ya rahmano,

O Most Merciful, O Most Merciful, O Most Merciful, O Most Merciful;

يا رَحيمُ يا رَحيمُ يا رَحيمُ

ya rahmano, ya raheemo, ya raheemo ya raheemo,

O Most Kind, O Most Kind, O Most Kind, O Most Kind;

يا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَالاِْكُرامِ يا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَ الاِْكْرامِ يا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَالاِْكْرامِ

ya zal-jalale val-jkrame, ya zal-jalale val-ikrame, ya zal-jalale val-jkrame, ya zal-jalale val-ikrame,

O Lord of Majesty and Grace, O Lord of Majesty and Grace, O Lord of Majesty and Grace;

بِهِ بِهِ بِهِ بِهِ بِهِ بِهِ بِهِ اَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْم سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ

behi, behi, behi, behi behi behi, behi, as'aloka be-koolle ismin sammaita behi nafsaka

You, Through You, Through You, Through You, Through You, Through You, Through You I appeal to You with the help of all the Names whereby You have named Yourself,

اَوْ اَنْزَلْتَهُ فى شَْيء مِنْ كُتُبِكَ

av anza-itahoo fee shai-in min kootobeka

or which You have sent down in any of Your inspired Scriptures,

اَوِ اسْتَأثَرْتَ بِهِ فِى عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ

avis-tasarea behi fee '1imil-ghaibe indaka

or Which You have inscribed in Your knowledge of the unknown;

وَبِمَعاقِدِ الْعِزِّ مِنْ عَرْشِكَ

wa bema'aqedil-izze min 'arsheka

and (I appeal to You) in the name of the honored and exalted positions of Your Throne,

وَبِمُنْتَهَى الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْ كِتابِكَ

wa be-moontahar-rahmate min kitabeka

and in the name of the utmost extent of Your Mercy as expressed in Your Book (the Quran),

وَبِما لَوْ اَنَّ ما فِى الاَْرْضِ مِنْ شَجَرَة اَقْلامٌ وَالْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّهُ

wa bema lov anna ma fil arze min shajaratin aqlamoon val-bahro yamooddo-hoo

and in the name of that which "If all the trees on earth were to become pens and all the seven seas ink,

مِنْ بَعْدِهِ سَبْعَةُ اَبْحُر ما نَفِدَتْ كَلِماتُ اللهِ

mim-ba'dehi sab'ato abhorin ma nafedat ka-lematoollahe

the Words of God could not be fully written down."

اِنَّ اللهَ عَزيزٌ حَكيمٌ

innal-iaha azizzoon hakeem,

Truly God is the Honored, the Wise;

وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِاَسْمآئِكَ الْحُسْنَى

wa as'aloka be-asmaa'ekal hoosna

And I appeal to You with the help of Your Beautiful Names

الَّتى نَعَتَّها فى كِتابِكَ فَقُلْتَ

al-lati na'attaha fee kitabeka faqoolta

which You have praised in Your Book, saying:

وَللهِ الاَْسْمآءُ الْحُسْنى فَادْعوُهُ بِها

wa lillahil asmaa'ool-hoosna fad-ooho beha

To God belong the beautiful names -- so (all of) you, call Him by Them;

وَقُلْتَ اُدْعُونى اَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ

wa qulta ud'ooni astajib lakum

And You have said "Call to Me and I shall answer you;

وَقُلْتَ وَاِذا سَأَلَكَ عِبادى عَنّى

wa qoolta wa iza sa'al-aka 'ibadi ' anni

and You have said, "And when My servants ask something of Me,

فَانّى قَريبٌ اُجيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدّاعِ اِذا دَعانِ

fa-inni qareeboon ojeebo da'v-atad-da'e iza da'ane

see, I am near, and I grant the prayer of the supplicant when he asks anything of Me, so pray to Me and believe in Me, that you may become perfect;"

وَقُلْتَ يا عِبادِىَ الّذَينَ اَسْرَفوُا عَلى اَنْفُسِهِمْ

wa qoolta ya 'lbadeyal-iazeena asrafoo ' ala anfosehim

And You have said, "O My servants who have wronged yourselves,

لا تَقْظَوُا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ اِنَّ اللهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَميعاً

la ta-qnatoo min rahmatil-iahe innal-iaha yaghferooz-zonooba jami-an

despair not of the Mercy of God; truly God forgives all sins;

اِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحيمُ

innahoo hoval ghafooror ra'-him,

truly He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

وَاَنَا اَسْاَلُكَ يا اِلـهى وَاَدْعُوكَ يا رَبِّ وَاَرْجُوكَ

wa ana as'aloka ya ilahi wa a'dooka ya rabbe, wa arjooka

Therefore, I pray to You, My God, and I ask You, My Cherisher and Sustainer,

يا سَيِّدى وَاَطْمَعُ فى اِجابَتى يا مَوْلاىَ كَما وَعَدْتَنى

sayyadi wa atma'o fee ijabati, ya movlaya kama wa' ad-tani

and I hope from You, my Chief, and I crave Your acceptance of my prayer, O my Protector, even as You have promised me,

وَقَدْ دَعَوْتُكَ كَما اَمَرْتَنى فَافْعَلْ بى ما

wa qad da'ovtoka kama amareani faf-al bi ma

and I call upon You even as You have commanded me --

اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ يا كَريمُ

ah-lohoo, ya karimo

So, do me what pleases You, O Generous One!

وَالْحَمْدُ للهِِ رَبِّ الْعالَمينَ

wal-hamdo lil-iahe rabbil-' a-lameena,

And all Praise be to God, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds,

وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ اَجْمَعينَ

wa sal-ial-iaho ' ala mohammadin wa alehi ajma'een.

and the blessings of God be upon Muhammad and all His Holy Descendants.
