Ziyarat-e Warith

السَّلامُ عـَلَيْكَ يا وارِثَ نـوُحٍ نَبــِيِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa waaritha nooh’in nabiyyil-laah

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Noah, the Prophet of God!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيـْكَ يـا وارِثَ إبـراهيـمَ خـَليـلِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa waaritha ibraaheema khaleelil-laah

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Abraham, the Friend of God!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيـْكَ يا وارِثَ موســى كـَليِم اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa waaritha moosaa kaleemil-laah

Peace be upon you. O inheritor of Moses, the one who talked with God!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيـْكَ يـا وارِثَ عـيـسى روُحِ الله

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa waaritha ‘eesaa rooh’il-laah

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Jesus, the Spirit of God!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيْكَ يا وارِثَ مـُحـَمـّدٍ حـَبـيبِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa waaritha muh’ammadin h’abeebil-laah

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Muhammad, the Beloved Friend of God!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيـْكَ يـا وارِثَ اَميرِ المُؤمِنينَ وَلَيِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa waaritha ameeril-mu`mineena ‘alayhis-salaamu waliyyil-laah

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Ali, the Commander of the Faithful and the Friend of God!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيـْكَ يَابـنَ مـُحـَمـّدٍ المـُصـطـَفـى

assalaamu ‘alayka yabna muh’ammadinil-mus’t’afaa

Peace be upon you, O son of Muhammad Mustafaa (the Chosen One!)

السَّلامُ عـَلَيْكَ يَابـن عـلي المرتـضـى

assalaamu ‘alayka yabna ‘aliyyinil-murtadhaa

Peace be upon you, O son of Ali Murtaza (One with Whom God is Pleased)!

السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابـن فاطـمة الزهراء

assalaamu ‘alayka yabna faat’imataz-zahraa

Peace be upon you, O son of Fatimah!

السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابـنَ خَديجَةَ الكُبـرى

assalaamu ‘alayka yabna khadeejatal-kubraa

Peace be upon you, O son of Khadija the Great!

السَّلام عَلَيْكَ يا ثارَ اللهِ وابـنَ ثارِِهِ والوِتـرَ المَوتـوُرَ

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa thaaral-laahi wabna thaarihi walwitral-mawtoor

Peace be upon you, O he who fought in the way of God, and the son of one who fought in the way of God!

اَشـهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَد اَقَمتَ الصَّلاةَ وَآتَيتَ الزَّكاة

ashhadu annaka qad aqamtas’-s’alaa wa aataytaz-zakaa

I bear witness that truly you established the prayers and gave the zakat (prescribed share) to the needy,

وَاَمَرتَ بـاُلمِعروف ِوَنَهَيتَ عـَنِ المُنكرِ

wa amarta bil-ma’roof wa nahayta ‘anil-munkar

and commanded to do what is right and lawful, and not to do that which is wrong and unlawful,

وَاَطـَعـتَ اللهَ وَرَسـولَهُ حـَتّى اَتيكَ اليَقـينُ

wa at’a’tal-laaha wa rasoolahu h’attaa ataakal-yaqeen

and obeyed God and His Messenger until the inevitable event came to you!

فـَلَعـَنَ اللهُ اُمَةً قَتـَلَتـكَ وَلَعَنَ اللهُ اُمَةً ظَلَمَتكَ

fa la’anal-laaha ummatan qatalatk wa la’anal-laaha ummatan zhalamatk

So, God curse those who killed you and God curse those who wronged you!

وَلَعَنَ اللهُ اُمَةً سَمِعت بـِذلك فَرَضِيَت بـه

wa la’anal-laahu ummatan sami’at bid’aalika faradhiyat bih

And God curse those who heard the event but remained satisfied!

يا مَولاي يا ابا عَبدِ اللهِ

yaa mawlaaya yaa abaa ‘abdillaah

O My Master, O Abu ′Abdullah!

اَشهَدُ اَنّك كُنتَ نوُرا في الأصلابِ الشّامِخَةِ وَالأرحـامِ المُطَهَرَةِ

ashhadu annaka kunta nooran fil-as’laabish-shaamikhati wal-arh’aamil-mut’ahharah

I bear witness that truly you were a light in the sublime loins and purified wombs!

لم تـُنَجـِسـكَ الجـاهِليَّةُ بـاَنِجـاسـِها

lam tunajjiskal-jaahiliyyatu bi-anjaasihaa

The impurities of ignorance did not even touch you,

وَلَم تـُلبـِسكَ مِن مُدلَهِمّاتِ ثـِيابـِها

wa lam tulbiska min mudlahimmaati thiyaabihaa

nor could its soiled and dirty character ever smear you!

وَاَشـهَدُ أنَكَ مِن دَعائِم الدّين وَاَركانِ المُؤمِنينَ

wa ashhadu annaka min da’aa`imil-muslimeen wa arkaanil-mu`mineen

I bear witness that, truly, you are the main support of religion, and the supporter of the belivers!

وَاَشهَدُ اَنّكَ الإمـام البَّرُ التَّقـيُ الرَّضـيُ الزَّكيّ الهادِي المَهدِيُ

wa ashhadu annakal-imaamul-barrut-taqiyy ar-radhiyyuz-zakiyy al-haadil-mahdiyy

I bear witness that, truly, you are a pious, God-fearing, favorite, wise, and rightly guided Imam.

وَاَشـهَدُ اَنَّ الأَئمّة مِن وُلْدِكَ كَلِمةُ التَّقـوى

wa ashhadu annal-a`immata miw-wuldika kalimatut-taqwaa

I bear witness that the Imams descended from you are words of piety,

وَاَعـلامُ الهُدى وَالعـُروةُ الوُثـقى وَالحـُجَّةُ عـَلى اَهل الدُنيـا

wa a’laamul-hudaa wal-‘urwatul-wuthqaa wal-h’ujjatu ‘alaa ahlid-dunyaa

and the signs of guidance and the safe handle of Islam, and the decisive argument for humanity.

وَاُشـهِدُ اللهَ وَمـلائكـَتـَهُ وَاَنبـِيائَهُ وَرُسـُلَهُ

wa ushhidul-laaha wa malaa`ikatah wa anbiyaa`ahu wa rusulah

I call God to give witness, and also His Angels, and His Prophets, and His Messenger,

اَنّي بـِكـمُ مُؤمِنٌ وَبـِايِابـِكم مُوقنٌ بـَشَرائِع ديني وخواتيِم عَمَلي

annee bikum mu`min wa bi`iyaabikum mooqin bisharaa`i’i deenee wa khawaateemi ‘amalee

that, truly, I believe in (all of) you and that I am sure of your Return connected to the sacred laws of my religion and my accomplishments.

وقَلبي لقَلبِكم سِلمٌ وَاَمري لِامْرِكـمُ مُتَّبـع

wa qalbee liqalbikum silm wa amree li`amrikum muttabi’

And my heart is given to yours, and my conduct follows your example.

صـَلَوات الله عَلَيكم وَعَلى اَرواحـِكم وَعَلى اَجـسـادِكُم

s’alawaatul-laahi ‘alaykum wa’alaa arwaah’ikum wa ‘alaa ajsaadikum

Blessings of God be on (all of) you and on your souls and on your bodies,

وعـَلَى اَجـسـامِكُم وَعـَلى شـاهِدِكم

wa ‘alaa ajsaamikum wa ‘alaa shaahidikum

and on your forms and when you are presented to our view,

وَعـَلَى غـائِبـِكم وَعـَلَى ظـاهركم وعـلى بــاطـِنـِكـم

wa ‘alaa ghaa’ibikum wa ‘alaa zhaahirikum

and when you are out of sight, and on your style and on your substance.

بـاَبـي أَنـت وَ اُمي يَا بْن رَسـُولِ اللهِ يا ابـا عـَبـدِ اللهِ

bi abee anta wa ummee yab-na rasoolil-laah bi abee anta wa ummee yaa abaa ‘abdillaah

My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O son of the Messenger of God! My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Abu Abdullah!

لَقَد عَظـُمتِ الرَّزيَّةُ و جـَلَتِ المُصـيبـَةُ بـِكَ عَلَينا

laqad ‘azhumatir-raziyyah wa jallatil-mus’eebatu bika ‘alaynaa

Truly, terrible was the calamity, and your suffering casts gloom upon us,

وَعَلى جــَمــيعِ اَهل السَّمــواتِ والأرض

wa ‘alaa jamee’i ahlis-samaawaati wal-ardh

and upon all the people of the heavens and the earth.

فــَلَعَنَ اللهُ اُمـةً أَسرجَت و َاَلجمـَتْ وَتـَهَيَأت و تنـقـبـت لِقـِتالِك

fa la’anal-laahu ummatan asrajat wa aljamat wa tahayya’at liqitaalik

Therefore, the curse of God be on the people who saddled up and gave rein to their horses and prepared to kill you.

يا مَوْلاي ياابـا عـَبـدِ اللهِ

yaa mawlaaya yaa abaa ‘abdillaah

O my Master, O Abu Abdullah!

قَصَدْتُ حَرَمَك وَاَتَيْت اِلى مَشْهَدِك

qas’adtu h’aramaka wa ataytu ilaa mashhadik

I moved towards your sacred shrine and came to visit you.

اَسـئَلُ اللهَ بـالِشـأن الذَي لَكَ عِندَهُ

as`alul-laaha bish-sha`nil-lad’ee laka ‘indah

I beseech God by the status that you enjoy with Him,

وَ بـِالمَحَل الَّذي لَكَ لَدَيهِ

wa bil-mah’illil-lad’ee laka ladayh

and in the position that you enjoy with Him,

اَن يُصـَليَ عَلَى مُحـَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحـَمّدٍ

an yus’allee ‘alaa muh’ammadin wa aali muh’ammad

to send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad,

وَاَن يَجعَلَني مَعَكم في الدُنيا وَالآخـِرة

wa an yaj’alanee ma’akum fid-dunyaa wal-aakhirah

and keep me with you in this world and in the Hereafter.

السّلامُ عـَلَيكَ يابــنَ رَسـوُلِ اللهِ

assalaamy ‘alayka yab-na rasoolil-laahi

Peace be upon you, O Son of the Messenger of God!

السـّلامُ عـَلَيكَ يابـنَ نَبـِيِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yab-na nabiyyil-laah

Peace be upon you, O Son of the Prophet of God!

السـّلامُ عـَلَيـكَ يابـنَ اَمير المُؤمِنينَ

assalaamu ‘alayka yab-na ameeril-mu`mineen

Peace be upon you, O Son of the Commander of the Faithful!

السـّلامُ عَلَيكَ يابـنَ الحـُسـينِ الشـهيدِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yab-nal-h’usaynish-shaheed

Peace be upon you, O Son of Husayn the Martyr!

السـّلامُ عَلَيكَ ايُّها الشـَهيدُ وابـن الشـهيد

assalaamu ‘alayka ayyuhash-shaheed

Peace be upon you, O Martyr!

السـّلامُ عـَلَيكَ ايُّها المـَظـلومُ وَابـنُ المَظـلوُمِ

assalaamu ‘alayka ayyuhal-mazhloomu wab-nul-mazhloom

Peace be upon you, O the Wronged One and Son of the Wronged One!

لَعَنَ اللهُ اُمةً قَتـَلَتـك وَلَعَنَ الله اُمةً ظَلَمَتـكَ

la’anal-laahu ummatan qatalatk wa la’anal-laahu ummatan zhalamatka

The curse of God be on those who killed you. The curse of God be on those who persecuted you.

وَلَعَن اللهُ اُمةً سـَمِعت بـِذلِك فَرَضِيت بـِهِ

wa la’anal-laahu ummatan sami’at bi-d’aalika faradhiyat bih

The curse of God be on those who heard this event but rested satisfied.

السـّلامُ عَلَيكَ يا ياوَليَّ اللهِ وَابـنَ وَلِيهِ

assalaamu ‘alayka yaa waliyyal-laahi wab-na waliyyih

Peace be upon you, O the Saint of God and Son of the Saint of God.

لَقَد عَظُمتِ المُصـيبـَةُ

laqad ‘azhumatil-mus’eebah

Truly, terrible was the calamity,

وَجـَلّتِ الرَزِيةُ بـِكَ عـَلينا وَعـَلَى جـَميعِ المُسـلِمينَ

wa jallatir-raziyyatu bika ‘alaynaa wa ‘alaa jamee’il-muslimeen

and your suffering casts gloom upon us and upon all Muslims.

فَلَعَنَ اللهُ اُمةً قَتَلَتك وَاَبـرءُ اِلى اللهِ وَاِليكَ مـِنهم

fala’anal-laahu ummatan qatalatk wa`abra`u ilal-laahi wa`ilayka minhum

So, the curse of God be on those who killed you, and I cut off all links with them, and turn to God and to you.

السَّلامُ عـَلَيكُم يااَولياءَ اللهِ وَاَحـِبـائَهُ

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa awliyaa`al-laahi wa ah’ibba`ah

Peace be upon all of you, O the Saints and Dear Ones of God!

السَّلام ُعـَلَيكُم يا اصـفـِياءَ اللهِ وَاوِدّائَهُ

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa as’fiyaa`al-laahi wa`awiddaa`ah

Peace be upon all of you, O the Adorers of God and the Sincerely Attached to Him!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيكُم يا اَنصـارَ دينِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa ans’aara deenil-laah

Peace be upon all of you, O the Helpers of God’s Religion!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيكُم يا اَنـصـارَ رَسـُولِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa ans’aara rasoolil-laah

Peace be upon all of you, O the Helpers of the Messenger of God!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيـكُم يـا اَنـصـارَ اَميرِ المُؤمِنـين

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa ans’aara ameeril-mu`mineen

Peace be upon all of you, O the Helpers of the Commander of the Faithful!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيكُم يا اَنـصـارَ فـاطـِمةَ الزهراء سَيدةِ نِساءِ العـالَمينَ

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa ans’aara faat’imata sayyidati nisaa`il-‘aalameen

Peace be upon all of you, O the Helpers of Fatimah, the Noble Leader of the women of all worlds!

السَّلامُ عـَلَيكُم يا اَنـصـارَ اَبـي مُحـَمَّدٍ الحـَسـَنِ بـن عـليٍّ الوَلي الناصِح

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa ans’aara abee muh’ammadinil-h’asanib-ni ali al-waliyyiz-zakiyyin-naas’ih’

Peace be upon all of you, O the Helpers of Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn Ali, The sincere, pure and faithful saint!

السَّلامُ عَلَيكُم يا اَنصارَ اَبـي عَبـدِ اللهِ

assalaamu ‘alaykum yaa ans’aara abee ‘abdil-laah

Peace be upon all of you, O the Helpers of Abu Abdullah!

بـاَبـي اَنتُم وَاُمي طِبـتُم وطابـَتِ الأرضُ الّتـي فـيها دُفـِنـتُم

bi-abee antum wa`ummee t’ibtum wa t’aabatil-ardhul-latee feehaa dufintum

My father and mother be sacrificed for you Truly, you were pure; therefore, the land where you are buried has been purified.

وَفـُزتُم فـَوزاً عـَظـيماً

wafuztum fawzan azheemaa

You also attained your goal and won great fortune.

فَيا لَيْتَني كُنْت مَعَكُم

fayaalaytanee kuntu ma’akum

Would that we were with you,

فَاَفُوزَ مَعَكُمْ

fa`afooza ma’akum

so that we could also share the accomplishment with you!

فَيالَيْتَني كُنْت مَعَكُم

fayaalaytanee kuntu ma’akum

Would that we were with you,

فَاَفُوز مَعَكُمْ

fa`afooza ma’akum

so that we could also share the accomplishment with you!
